John is retired after working for more than 30 years cleaning up environmental sites around the US. As a retiree, John is spending his time volunteering with Citizen's Climate Lobby, a grassroots advocacy organization focused on national policies to address climate change, and Extinction Rebellion, a climate change focused direct action movement. He is also a board member for Wetland Trust, which is focused on preserving and restoring wetlands in New York State.

In addition, John is working on his own personal project looking for ways to purify water with using electricity.
